Our client based in Peterborough is looking for a Castings Designer on a fulltime permanent basis to join an established team. You will be responsible for product design and new product design from a castings environment, working with our clients client’s on new product design and amending old designs to reflect any new changes. You MUST have knowledge of solidworks and you will have worked in a foundry environment or similar. A full job description is available for all suitable candidates.

This role will see the successful candidate identify and understand the customer's needs and to provide a high level of technical advice / project support to them. You will assist with the design and development for the company.
Key responsibilities
To work closely with the customer and internal departments in establishing the feasibility and realisation of product design specifications
Successfully identify the customer's needs and provide project support and technical advice to ensure satisfactory outcome
To promote the company brand through the production of presentation visuals
Verify new design features through effective prototyping
Production of fully detailed 3D models for manufacturing purposes
Essential skills
A good working knowledge of 3D CAD software
An interest in design, preferably within construction or architecture
Competent IT skills
Candidates with SolidWorks or similar eg AutoCAD would be highly desirable.
This is a full time role and comes with a salary of £20,500 DOE

3D Product Designer (Trainee)
About the Job
TDX, a major supplier of design services, prototype samples and tooling to the Thermoformed packaging industry, is looking to recruit for the following role to join our highly motivated team based in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
This role is a full time permanent position within our thermoformed packaging design, prototype and sample department and will involve working closely with a number of our key customers.
Given the close working relationship with key accounts the successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to develop good working relationships with multiple contacts in the same account. The role involves working in a very fast moving, high pressure environment to tight deadlines so resilience will be a key attribute of the successful candidate.
The successful applicant will possess some or all of the following skills.
- Delcam Powershape and/or Solidworks experience preferred.
- 3-axis vertical milling machine programming experience would be advantageous.
- Applicants with packaging design or Thermoforming process knowledge preferred but not essential.
- Would suit a Graduate Trainee 3-D Product Design Engineer or second jobber looking for progression into a role with increased customer contact.
